Graduate of University of Victoria (Bachelor of Arts) and University of British Columbia (Master of Arts; Bachelor of Laws).
Called to the British Columbia Bar in 1980.
Qualified Mediator, Law Society of B.C., 1986.
Past Director and Board Chair of the Continuing Legal Education Society of B.C. (1990-1999).
Has practised law in Campbell River since 1979.
